Yung-Hsin Cheng paints the world the way you remember it, not the way it looks. Her acrylic landscapes, animals and wild corners of nature are a little dreamlike, a little nostalgic, and full of colour you wouldn’t expect, palettes inspired from nature, interiors, cafés and the spaces she loves. You’ll see every brushstroke, because she wants you to.
She grew up in Taiwan and moved to the Netherlands ten years ago. Living between two very different places, [the humid green mountains / night markets of Taiwan and the flat, wide skies of Holland], taught her that home is often a feeling more than a place. That feeling, along with the places she’s travelled, finds its way into almost every painting.
For two years she worked as a project manager in the corporate world, planning, organising and keeping big projects on track, while her paints stayed in a drawer. In 2026 she decided she’d waited long enough. Today she paints full-time from her studio in Rotterdam, and her work has found homes around the world.
